It is not easy to
leave our country with all one dear ones, to work in an unknown
place with different culture and habits. Humanly speaking
it is rather very different. But when we have a supernatural
motive, nothing will be different to follow Jesus who said:
“Everyone who has lost houses or brothers and sisters
and father or mother and children and fields for my name’s
sake, will receive a hundred fold, and will inherit eternal
life. Mt.19: 29.
As
missionaries we need provisions for our journey. Sometimes
we have to walk long distance in the bush to reach the people
who live in remote villages. We have to pass through thick
forest by the beaten path where no vehicle can go.
Msgr.
Bresillac said in his book Retreat to the missionaries “Love,
patience, kindness let this be our provision for the journey;
let this be our missionary baggage.”
May
the God of Missionaries help us to offer whole-hearted service
to the poor and the abandoned people in Africa with zeal and
selfless love. Sometimes it will be difficult to show patience
and kindness to those who are illiterate and unable to understand
to what we say. By following Jesus the great Missionary we
shall cultivate the virtues of patience and kindness which
will bear more fruit in our missionary effort to preach the
Good News in Africa.
May
the Holy Spirit be our guide to promote the evangelical ministry
in an effective way. May our Lady, the Mother of Jesus, and
the Mother of Missionaries help us.
May
our Founder Msgr. Bresillac obtain for us the grace to work
with real zeal to be a witness to the gospel in Africa.
This
is my sincere wish and blessing to all of you: “A missionary
from the depth of my heart.”
